A Gift

If someone should hurt you
and say a thing unkind,
Remember what I write to you,
and keep these thoughts in mind.

For everyone that makes you cry,
there are three to make you smile,
And a smile will last for a long,
long time, but a tear just a little while.

Don't let someone who hates the world
cause you to hate it too,
Behind the clouds is a golden sun,
and a sky that's full of blue.

If someone said a thing that's cruel,
don't let it get to you,
Your achievements are greatly numbered,
and your faults are very few.

So if a certain person
should act a certain way,
Think of those who love you.
And don't let it spoil your day!

A Gift

The Key to Friendship..
Is Not In The Hand You Hold,
But How You Hold The Hand.

It's Not In The Tears You Dry,
But All The Reasons Why.

It's Not How You Make A Person Smile
But Whether Or Not It's Worthwhile.

It's Not In The Conversation,
But In The Way You Listen.

It's Not In The Laughter,
But What Comes Before And Everything After.

The Key To Friendship..
Is Not In Two People Relating,
But In Two Hearts Communicating.

Thank You For Being That Very Special Friend,
Who Understands The Key To Friendship,
And How To Unlock Everything Within.

~Author Unknown~

Friendship is like a golden chain
the links are friends so dear
And like a rare and precious jewel
It's treasured more each year
It's clasped together firmly
With a love that's deep and true
And it's rich with happy memories
And fond recollections, too

Time can't destroy its beauty
For as long as Memory lives
years can't erase the pleasure
that the joy of friendship gives

For friendship is a priceless gift
That can't be bought or sold,
But to have an understanding friend
Is worth far more than Gold

And the golden chain of friendship
Is a strong and blessed tie
Binding kindred hearts together
As the years go passing by

Helen Steiner Rice

Into a box of friendship
To insure that it is strong
First a layer of respect
On the bottom does belong.

Then to the sides attach,
In the corners where they meet,
Several anchors full of trust,
Devoid of all deceit.

The height of friendship can be measured
By the sides of four,
So make them all a larger cut,
And the box will hold much more.

Now fill it up with courtesy,
Honor and esteem,
Understanding, sympathy,
And passion for a dream.

Add to that your honesty,
Emotions joy and love,
And since they’re so important,
Place them up above

But leave the box wide open
So all can see inside,
To learn what makes a friendship work
From the box you built with pride.
