A Gift

Hello, Dear Friend,

We are starting a new care group this month,
and I was happy to find your name on my list.
You will be hearing from me weekly for the
next couple of months.

Even though it is still quite warm here in
Tennessee, signs of autumn are all around.
Leaves are changing colors, some are falling,
chrysanthemums are blooming, and I’m looking
forward to this, my favorite time of the year.

Wishing you a great week ahead, and I will
be by for another visit next week.

Love and Hugs,
Grandma Lyn

Dear Special Friend,

It’s a beautiful day here, and oh, how I am
enjoying the cooler weather....perfect for
catching up on some much-needed garden
work. Hope it stays this way for a while!

I’m sending a little poem which I learned
in 4th grade (a VERY long time ago), and
wishing you a wonderful week ahead....
Love and Hugs,
Grandma Lyn

SEPTEMBER

The goldenrod is yellow; the corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards with fruit are bending down.
The gentian’s bluest fringes are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed its hidden silk has spun.
The sedges flaunt their harvest, in every meadow nook;
And asters by the brook-side make asters in the brook.
From dewy lanes at morning the grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter with yellow butterflies.
By all these lovely tokens, September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather, and autumn’s best of cheer.

Dear Special Friend,

This past weekend was such fun, as my brother and
sister-in-law came down from Illinois to visit me, my
daughter, and her family. It’s always a great time
for everyone when they’re around! Wish we lived
closer together so we could see each other more often.

Today I’m sending a couple of my T-shirt buddies,
and wishing you a wonderful week and a great
autumn which begins officially on Wednesday!

Love and Hugs,
Grandma Lyn

There’s warmth and joy
That never ends...

Dear Special Friend,

It’s Homecoming weekend at our local high school,
and 15-year-old granddaughter Addison was invited
to her first Homecoming dance by her good friend
Michael (whom we are now allowed to officially
refer to as her boyfriend).

Now Addie much prefers jeans, flannel shirts, and
combat boots to dresses and heels, so it was quite a
change to see her so excited about getting dressed up
for the dance, but in the end she looked beautiful!

Wishing you a lovely week ahead, and all the joy of
a special young lady going to her first grown-up dance!

Love and Hugs,
Grandma Lyn
